DloHaiti is led by a team of Haitian and Silicon Valley entrepreneurs and investors with deep, first-hand experience of the water business and water kiosk operations in Haiti.
Jim Chu, Chief Executive Officer
Jim has been active entrepreneur and investor since 1994 and has been involved in humanitarian aid and development since 2004. After obtaining his B.A. in International Relations and Quantitative Economics from Stanford University in 1994, Jim founded a consulting firm in the very early days of the Internet, helping businesses leverage the reach of the web to expand internationally. After his M.A. in International Policy Studies at Stanford, he joined Cisco Systems where he ran marketing and business development in Latin America and Canada, growing annual revenues for services from $90M to $140M within 2 years. Jim left Cisco to join Medécins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), where he headed administrative and financial operations for their missions in Nigeria.
Since 2005, Jim has been investing in and operating numerous start-ups in Silicon Valley, both bootstrapped and venture-backed. Jim has been actively working in Haiti since early 2010 and until July, 2012 was the CEO of LifeGivingForce (LGF), a social enterprise deploying donor-funded private-public water kiosks in urban and rural Haiti. He was heavily involved in technical designs, operational deployments, field training, and market assessments for LGF’s water kiosk installations. His goal in Haiti is to promote entrepreneurship in emerging countries by giving the disadvantaged the right know-how and capital so they can meet their own needs and support their communities.
Jim brings experience starting and growing companies as a seasoned entrepreneur and investor. Combined with on-the-ground knowledge in Haiti and other developing countries, he provides the leadership, vision, and market understanding to make dloHaiti a profitable, impactful, and scalable global company.
Jim splits his time between Port-au-Prince, Haiti and San Francisco, California.
Luigi Roy, General Manager Haiti
After graduating from the University of Florida in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Luigi Roy started his career in the Telecoms Industry by joining Motorola in 1999 as a Senior System Test Engineer where he spent 5 Years. In 2004 he decided it was time to give back to his country and move back to Haiti where he joined GB Group as a Technical Manager overlooking all Telecoms related projects. One of these projects being the preliminary site study for Digicel Haiti. In 2005, he integrated the Digicel family as Digicel Haiti’s first employee where a new journey begun.
From 2005 to 2015, Luigi have grown with Digicel from being an RF Team Leader to RF Manager in 2007, then to Head of Rollout and Optimization in 2009 to Technical Director in 2011 overlooking operations of the Haiti Network. During his 10 years working at Digicel Haiti, he has benefited from multiple trainings and challenging project experiences which help his continuous growth. He has been involved in many key projects such multiple phases of site rollout, Network restoration after the Earthquake, 3G deployment, Fiber rollout and multiple Optimization work to raise network KPIs above the group targets.
In parallel, Luigi also plays a key role in newly opened Smokey’s Bar & Grill since June 2014 as co-owner. In a very short period, the restaurant made it to top charts in Haiti with continuous great reviews from local and international critics.
Luigi lives in Pétion-Ville, Haiti and spends the majority of his free time consulting for small technical related projects, event planning and discovering the hidden corners of Haiti. Luigi is very excited to join DloHaiti and help contribute to its successful growth while giving back to the needed communities.
Alexandra Saint Elien, Finance Manager
Alexandra was born in Haiti and raised in New Jersey. She completed her college and university career respectively majoring in business administration and accounting from Mercer County and Rider University. She is a detail-oriented person who has proven experience in setting clear goals and achieving them on time. After almost 8 years in the field of numerous finance/accounting departments working within great corporations like; Canon, Heinz North America, Verizon Wireless, World Water & Solar Technology Corp, she evolved from a junior accounting to a well accomplished manager. She demonstrates an unusual desire to do things well and applies herself in her work and is very dedicated to the causes she embraces.
After improving her current professional skills in her current field over the past few years in the States, her and her husband decided they wanted to come back to Haiti to help enrich the country. She firmly believes that she can add significant value to her company and is fully committed to achieving complete success in every accounting project.
She enjoys playing tennis, being with her family, and is excited by the prospect of using her knowledge and passion for financial management to stay a motivated member of Dlohaiti.
Guerdy St Louis Faustin, HR and Compliance Manager
Guerdy St Louis Faustin holds a law degree from the Faculty of Law and Economics of Port-au-Prince, she joined as an intern the Law Firm Labner Leroy, before to embrace a career in the human resources management field.
Member of the board of the Society of Human Resources Management of Haiti (SHAMARH). She worked in the NGO sector with Plan International, Haiti, where she was successively Legal Assistant, Human Resources Assistant and Human Resources Manager from February 2004 until October 2010. After that she went first to extend her experience in the banking sector and works for Citibank NA as Human Resources Generalist, then J/P Haitian Relief Organization before joining the team of dloHaiti SA Operations Human Resources and Compliance Manager.
Her legal skills especially, her knowledge of the labor code combined with the human resources management experiences during those past ten year are a key factor to support the HR Function within DHOSA and in the local HR network.
Pascal Guy Millery, Operations Manager
Pascal Guy Millery has an extensive record as a sales specialist, manager and entrepreneur. His expertise comes from working as a loan specialist and branch manager with various real estate financing companies until he decided to establish his own company, PGM & Associates LLC, in 2004.
He returned home to Haiti in 2009 as the US real estate market was experiencing a steep decline. Upon his arrival, he started the company Kiskeya Construction S.A. As PDG, his primary responsibility was business development which was a challenge he was well prepared to embrace. Three years later, Pascal sold his shares in the company and joined Haiti Equipment and Demolition S.A. He thrived in the high pressure environment of crucial deadlines, fleet and project management as well as serving as liaison between HED S.A and local officials for government sponsored projects.
ascal is currently an Operations Manager at Dlo Haiti where his fusion of leadership, sales and management skills coupled with his motivation to deliver great service guarantee quality performance and outstanding results.
